Florence Nightingale (1820 - 1910) was a very famous nurse. Her work caring for wounded soldiers in the Crimean War made her a national heroine. Later she set up the Nightingale Training School for nurses. Over her lifetime she dramatically changed the role of nurses and the way hospitals were run.
